IHE is one of the world’s leading groups studying the economic aspects of diabetes. Over the course of more than 20 years we have developed models to simulate the progression of the disease, including being a driving contributor in the Mount Hood challenge.
Our models have been used in submissions to HTA bodies across the world, as well as in supporting the development of national guidelines. Our work also includes registry-based research on different aspects of both type I and II diabetes. In all, we have more than 50 publications in the field.
Examples topics include:
- Cost-effectiveness analyses of different interventions including pharmaceuticals, devices and life style
- Evaluation of quality of life in patients with diabetes
- Studies comparing home-based versus hospital-based care
- Estimating the societal costs of diabetes, including prognoses of future costs
- Preference studies
