New IHE publication reveals the societal costs of problem gambling in Sweden

In 2020 IHE published a report on the societal costs of problem gambling in Sweden. The analysis has now been turned into a scientific article and published in the journal BMC Public Health. The main results show that the total societal costs of problem gambling amounted to 1.42 billion euros (around SEK 14 billion) in 2018. Even compared to major public health problems such as alcohol and smoking, the costs of problem gambling are significant.
